What's This

The Loan It community brings together people who have worthwhile items to loan out and people who want to borrow them. Best of all, it’s free!

The basics

  • Loaners post things for rent. They get to decide the terms of the rental, including price and security deposit.
  • Borrowers contact the loaner using the form on the loaners profile.
  • Loaners and Borrowers agree to the terms of the loan.
  • Loaners and Borrowers handle payment and delivery themselves.
  • Loaners make money and Borrowers save money.
  • Both parties help the environment by reusing, not consuming.

Why use LoanIt?

There are many reason to use LoanIt. Here are a few:

  • Make money off the stuff that's gathering dust in your garage, closet, attic, or driveway.
  • Save money by borrowing things that you only need infrequently.
  • Help the environment by reusing instead of consuming.

What happens if a Borrower damages or loses an item?

When you post your item on LoanIt, you can set a security deposit in case something happens to your item. The Loaner gets to decide how much to hold as the deposit (or can choose not to require one at all).

Of course, we encourage Loaners and Borrowers to discuss any potential damage themselves before resorting to the security deposit. Often they can work out an arrangement that is fair to both parties.

We also have a Rental Agreement that you can print and get it signed by both parties.

This rental agreement is offered as an optional and free download from LoanIt.co.nz. Under no circumstances is LoanIt to be considered a direct or indirect party to this agreement. The agreement is strictly between the owner and the renter as dependent upon their mutual agreement.

How do I get started?

If you have items that you wish to let others borrow, register an account with us or log in if you already have one, and post your items. It's that easy!

If you want to see what's out there to borrow, go to the Borrow It page and find what it is that you are after. Once you've found it, go to that persons profile (there is a link to the posters profile on the item page), and contact them using the contact form that is on their profile page.
